Lina Romay stars as Celestine in this minor French sex-comedy from cult director Jesus Franco, using the pseudonym "Clifford Brown." In 1700s France, Celestine comes to work at the mansion of the Count de la Braquette (Howard Vernon), an impotent old man to whom she must read from the Marquis de Sade before he can fall asleep. Celestine sets about having sex with everyone from the gardener (Ramon Ardid) to virginal niece Martine (Monique Delaunay) and Count Fernand (Olivier Mathot) before the entire household converges on her room for the finale. Franco's film is rather explicit for light comedy, but is primarily a breezy, engaging exploitation trifle. Monica Swinn, Jean-Pierre Bouyxou, and Franco have cameos, and filmmaker Gerard Kikoine served as editor.

Sex comedy from Jess Franco actually has the same source of Luis Bunuel's Diary of a Chambermaid but this here goes for way more laughs. The police raid a brothel and a prostitute (Lina Romay) escapes into the countryside. The woman, Celestine, ends up at a rich folks house where she ends up sleeping with two of the servants who then get her a job as a maid. Before long Celestine is sleeping with everyone trying to bring some joy to their lives. I was really letdown with this film after reading some positive reviews for it. Romay is cute and charming as always but the supporting cast, including Pamela Stanford, Monica Swinn and Howard Vernon are rather dull. The best scene is when Romay is trying to rest in the morning but at least seven people show up for sex. Each time a new one knocks at the door she must try and hide the one she's currently sleeping with.

Slaughter Hotel (1971)

In a psychiatric clinic for rich women, dies murdered, one after another, a nurse and two patients, while an arrow hit another woman. The guilty is a masked man. The police decide to set up a trap, but the line of murdering isn't still over.

A long-haired Klaus Kinski plays the doctor in charge of an isolated lunatic asylum.Of course the patients are all beautiful women with various sexual problems.And of course they're being killed off in various gruesome and sadistic ways.Writer/director Fernando Di Leo specialized in violent,sleazy mafia movies like "The Italian Connection" or "Mister Scarface"."Slaughter Hotel" is his only giallo,but it contains tons of sleaze and misogynistic violence.Euro-horror goddess Rosalba Neri is amazingly sensual as the resident nymphomaniac.Her sex scene with the gardener is hotter than hell.The film was originally released in Europe as "The Cold Blooded Beast".All the actresses including Rosalba Neri, Margaret Lee,Monica Stroebel,Jane Garret and Gioia Desideri are very attractive and provide lots of female flesh.There is obligatory lesbian sequence between Stroebel and Garret and strikingly sleazy Neri's masturbation scene.The action drags sometimes,but the climax is a suitably frenzied and audacious.

A triangle of friendship, love, sex, and, perhaps, murder. Minou is newly married to Peter, a businessman in debt as he works to bring a new product to market. They met through Dominique, sexually voracious, Minou's best friend, and Peter's former (and possibly still) lover. A stranger accosts Minou one night on the beach while Peter is away. He tells her that Peter has murdered a business associate and blackmails her into sleeping with him. He compounds the blackmail with photos taken of their tryst. To Minou's surprise, this same stranger is in a pornographic photo Dominique has imported from Denmark. Is this all a game, and if so, who's behind it?

"Le Foto Proibite Di Una Signora Per Bene" aka. "The Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion" (1970) is the first of three Gialli by Luciano Ercoli, the others being the fantastic "La Morte Cammina Con I Tacchi Alti" ("Death Walks With High Heels", 1971) and the decent "La Morte Accarezza a Mezzanotte" ("Death Walks At Midnight", 1972). This is actually a highly unusual Giallo as it lacks the usual violent and stylish murders almost entirely; however, it makes up for the lack of bloodshed with a hugely compelling plot that will tantalize the viewer from start to finish.

When walking alone at night Minou (Dagmar Lassander) is attacked by an assailant (Simón Andreu). He does not rape her, but blackmails her with supposed proof of her husband Peter's (Pier Paolo Capponi) role in a murder. And it isn't money that the blackmailer is keen on.... Scripted by the great Ernesto Gastaldi, whose impressive filmography as a screenwriter includes Ercoli's other two Gialli and numerous others as well as several of the works of master directors like Mario Bava, Antonio Margheriti and Sergio Martino, "Forbidden Photos..." has a fascinating and constantly tense plot full of intrigue, red herrings and sexual perversions. The film is often referred to as a very 'sexy' Giallo; while the film has a plot filled with sex, it isn't explicit though, and actually quite tame for Giallo standards (there is no explicit filmed nudity, just some nude photos of sexy Nieves Navarro are shown). The film is almost blood-less and doubtlessly one of the least goriest Gialli ever made.

The cast is entirely great. All three of Ercoli's Gialli star Spanish actress Nieves Navarro and her countryman Simón Andreu. Andreu is great in the role of the sex-crazed blackmailer and the ravishing Miss Navarro is once again fantastic in her role of Minou's nymphomaniac friend. Dagmar Lassander ("Hatchet for the Honeymoon") fits perfectly in the leading role of the victim, she seems incredibly vulnerable and innocent. Pier Paolo Capponi ("Il Boss", "Cat O'Nine Tails", "Seven Blood-Stained Orchids") is once again great in his role. The film has a wonderfully elegant, typical early 70s look and the cinematography is fantastic, even by high Giallo Standards. The score was composed by none other than Ennio Morricone, needless to say that it is brilliant and perfectly increases the tension and atmosphere. In spite of a very low violence-level, "Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion" manages to be an incredibly suspenseful Giallo-experience from start to finish. My personal favorite film by Ercoli is still "Death Walks with High Heels", but this one comes very close and is an undeniable must-see for any Giallo fan. Highly Recommended!

Eugenie, a beautiful but shy young girl, lives with her stepfather, a famous writer specializing in stories of erotica. One day she happens to read one of his "erotic" books and its power so affects her that begins to find herself sexually attracted to her stepfather. He notices this, and eventually brings her into his dark world of sexual perversion and murder.

First things first - 'Eugenie De Sade' isn't to be confused with Jess Franco's other De Sade adaptation 'Eugenie', which to make matters worse also featured Paul Muller, one of his regular actors. That Eugenie starred the gorgeous Marie Liljedahl, this Eugenie stars the gorgeous Soledad Miranda (Franco sure had some stunning leading ladies!). Miranda, who died tragically in the same year as this movie was released, is best remembered for her role in 'Vampyros Lesbos', arguably Franco's best film. Miranda plays Eugenie, the devoted daughter of Albert Radeck de Franval (Muller), a writer and researcher specializing in erotica. One day she reads a "forbidden" book from her stepfather's collection, and this irrevocably alters their relationship. She becomes his love slave and obeys his every command. He makes her his accomplice in a series of murders, and for a time, both are ecstatic. But when Eugenie begins to fall in love with her latest victim, Paul, a flaky jazz rock musician (Andres Monales, also from 'Vampyros Lesbos'), the wrath of de Franval is sure to be swift and savage. Having nosy writer Tanner (played by Franco himself) hot on their trail doesn't help matters any either. This is one of Franco's better efforts and as good a place as any to jump into his world. Franco's movies are generally stylish, erotic and dreamlike, and that certainly describes this one. The two leads are perfectly cast. Muller plays the jaded sophisticate very well, and Miranda is just beautiful. Anybody who has ever enjoyed a Franco movie should try and see this one. You won't be disappointed!
